I purchased this OSCOO 1TB NVMe SSD because my original drive failed, and my MacBook wouldn’t boot up — it was completely dead in the water. I figured I’d give this replacement a shot and also get an upgrade in storage and speed, and I’m so glad I did. PRO TIP: READ THE USER MANUAL! I almost returned the SSD because my MacBook didn’t recognize it at first. The manual’s instructions in Step 3 are PERFECT — you must follow every step. I initially missed the part in Disk Utility to show all devices, and you must select the SSD and erase it. Once I did that exactly as the manual outlined, my MacBook booted up perfectly, and now it feels like new — super fast and responsive. What I love about this SSD: Spacious 1TB storage — plenty of room for photos, videos, apps, and projects. Fast performance — PCIe Gen3.0 x4 offers smooth file transfers and app launches. Solid build quality — feels reliable and well-made, supporting TRIM and SMART for long-term durability. Bottom line: This SSD saved my MacBook and gave it a brand-new lease on life. Follow the manual carefully, and you’ll get a fast, spacious, and dependable upgrade that’s well worth it.
Hi there. The delivery was really fast from European stock. The only negative thing was the measured speed compared to the mentioned 3500 Mb/ 3000Mb speeds.

This PCIe NVMe SSD comes in a 256 GB size and comes with screw drivers to help connect it. it installed well in our test machine and was able to support very fast file transfers. It worked well in our testing and we could recommend it. Overall I believe it is of good value for the cost. As always I will evaluate long term and update with any new information
Easy replacement for my failing HD on my Mac Air 2017. Just popped it in and used the mac's built-in recovery software to download the latest compatible OS from Apple. I had already backed up personal data to an external drive. Saved a bunch over what was quoted to me by the "geniuses".
I'm not super technical but my husband helped me swap this into my MacBook Pro 15 inch (2015 model). The whole thing took maybe 15 minutes including watching the installation video first.
My old Mac was constantly running out of space and everything was slow. Now it boots up fast and I finally have enough room for all my photos and work files. The 512GB is perfect for what I need and saved me a lot compared to other brands I was looking at.
Comes with the screwdrivers you need which was a nice touch. Would definitely recommend if your older Mac is feeling sluggish but you're not ready to buy a new one.
My mid-2015 MacBook Pro 15" (A1398) was getting painfully slow — beach balls everywhere, 45-second boot times. Decided to try the ON900A 1TB instead of paying $350+ for the OWC option.
Installation took about 10 minutes. Pentalobe and Torx bits are included which saved me a trip to the store. Popped the old 256GB Apple SSD out, slid the ON900A in, booted into Internet Recovery and installed Ventura. No issues at all — the drive was recognized immediately.
Ran Blackmagic Disk Speed Test and got around 2,800 MB/s read and 2,100 MB/s write, which is way faster than my original drive. Boot time is now under 15 seconds. Apps like Lightroom and Xcode launch almost instantly.
For less than half the price of competing Mac SSD upgrades, this is a no-brainer. Only reason I didn't try this sooner is because I hadn't heard of the brand — but it's been rock solid for 2 months now.
I purchased two of these one for my mid 2014 MacBook Pro and one for my late 2015 27 inch retina. They both work perfectly. You do have to do the apple tango to do it correctly whether that’s using another computer to install the latest operating system using a USB drive or transferring a new version of the operating system from one computer to an external hard drive and then transferring that to applications and installing from within the system so that it recognizes the SSD. Once the latest software was on the internal hard drive, the computer finally recognized the SSD. It is possible thanks to the help of ChatGPT. I found a YouTube video of the company that makes these in China and they are very. I am having no issues if I do, I will update. I learned the hard way to back up my computers now on an external hard drive anyways. Thank you China / Oscoo for making an affordable SSD that can bring my old computers back to life.
No issues. Works great.
My old MacBook Pro's original SSD died so I bought this to resurrect it. It was easy to install and the Apple Recovery process worked a treat. My laptop is back.
So far so good. I just installed it yesterday. So we’ll see how it goes. I have a mid 2015 MacBook Pro retina running Monterey. One note I will say which most me have already been aware of. Make sure you hold command-option-R instead of just command-R, otherwise it brings you to an older recovery mode, which does not recognize the new Drive to be formatted.
Works perfect, super easy install. Small complaint - ordered 1TB but Mac shows 953GB, though every manufacturer does this. Otherwise fantastic, Xcode builds are lightning quick and VMs run smooth. If budget permits, definitely get the 2TB since you're stuck with whatever you choose.
Running a home server on a Late 2014 Mac Mini. Upgraded to ON900A 2TB for Plex library. This thing screams - 3500MB/s reads means multiple 4K streams without breaking a sweat. 3D TLC NAND is perfect for mostly-read workloads. Uptime 200+ days, zero issues
My late 2013 MacBook Pro 15" was crawling with the original 256GB SSD. The ON900A 1TB upgrade transformed it into a beast! Boot time went from 45 seconds to 12 seconds. Getting actual 2100MB/s read speeds in BlackMagic test. Installation was straightforward with the included Torx screwdrivers. For $150, it's cheaper than buying a new Mac!

Can the ON900A be installed in my Mac?
The ON900A is specifically designed for Mac systems from 2013-2017, including MacBook Air (A1465, A1466), MacBook Pro Retina (A1502, A1398), Mac Mini (A1347), iMac (A1418, A1419), and Mac Pro (A1481). You must have macOS High Sierra 10.13 or later installed. Check your Mac model and year against the compatibility chart before purchase, as newer Macs may use different connectors.
Will my Mac's performance improve significantly after upgrading?
Absolutely. If your Mac is using a traditional hard drive or older SSD, the ON900A's 3,500MB/s read speeds will dramatically improve boot times, application launches, and file operations. You'll notice faster startup, quicker photo/video editing, and more responsive multitasking. The PCIe Gen3.0×4 interface maximizes your Mac's existing performance potential.
Will the ON900A overheat in my MacBook?
The ON900A is engineered for Mac's thermal constraints with efficient 3D TLC NAND Flash technology that generates minimal heat. The M.2 2280 form factor fits perfectly within Mac's existing thermal design. However, ensure proper ventilation during intensive tasks like video rendering or large file transfers to maintain optimal performance.
Can I migrate my existing macOS installation to the ON900A?
Yes, you can clone your existing drive to the ON900A using Time Machine backup restoration or disk cloning tools like Carbon Copy Cloner. The process preserves your applications, settings, and files. However, we recommend a clean macOS installation for optimal performance, then restore your data from Time Machine backup.
What is the actual usable capacity of the ON900A?
256GB version: approximately 238GB usable
512GB version: approximately 476GB usable
1TB version: approximately 931GB usable
2TB version: approximately 1.86TB usable
(System formatting and binary conversion consume some space, which is industry standard)
How reliable is the ON900A for professional Mac workflows?
The ON900A features enterprise-grade 3D TLC NAND Flash with TRIM, NCQ and S.M.A.R.T support for professional reliability. It's ideal for Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, Adobe Creative Suite, and other demanding Mac applications. The consistent performance ensures smooth 4K video editing and large project file handling.
Why doesn't my Mac reach the advertised 3,500MB/s speed?
Achieving maximum speed requires:
①Compatible Mac model with PCIe Gen3.0×4 support
②macOS High Sierra 10.13 or later
③Large sequential file transfers (small files are affected by system overhead)
④Proper installation in the primary M.2 slot
Older Mac models or different PCIe configurations may limit speeds. These are system limitations, not product defects. The included installation tools help ensure proper setup.
