Frequently Asked Questions

This resource is crafted to help you find information easily and efficiently.

Will the R500 RGB work with my motherboard's RGB software?

The R500 is compatible with major RGB control software including ASUS Aura Sync, MSI Mystic Light, Gigabyte RGB Fusion, and ASRock Polychrome. If your motherboard doesn't have RGB control, the memory will display default rainbow effects.

Can I mix R500 memory with other brands?

While possible, we recommend using matched sets for optimal performance and stability. Mixing brands, speeds, or timings may cause the system to run at the lowest common specifications and could affect RGB synchronization. DDR5 is particularly sensitive to mismatched configurations.

What does On-die ECC mean?

On-die ECC is built into DDR5 to improve reliability by automatically correcting minor memory errors. This is different from traditional ECC memory and doesn't require special motherboard support. It operates transparently and enhances stability during operation.

Do I need to enable XMP/EXPO for rated speeds?

Yes, DDR5 memory runs at 4800MHz by default (JEDEC standard). Enable XMP 3.0 (Intel) or EXPO (AMD) in your BIOS to achieve the rated 5200MHz, 5600MHz, or 6000MHz speeds. This is a simple one-click setting in most modern BIOS interfaces.

Why isn't my RAM running at advertised speeds?

Common causes:
  • XMP 3.0/EXPO not enabled in BIOS (most common)
  • Motherboard doesn't support the speed (check QVL list)
  • CPU memory controller limitations (ensure CPU supports DDR5 speeds)
  • BIOS needs updating to latest version
  • RAM installed in wrong slots (check motherboard manual for dual-channel configuration)
  • Incompatible platform (R500 requires DDR5-compatible motherboard)

Will upgrading from 16GB to 32GB improve gaming FPS?

Upgrading improves FPS only if you're currently bottlenecked by insufficient memory (constant stuttering, high RAM usage above 90%). For gaming in 2025, 16GB is minimum, 32GB is recommended for modern AAA titles and multitasking. 32GB to 64GB rarely affects gaming FPS but helps with content creation and heavy workloads.

Will R500 work with my DDR4 motherboard?

No, DDR5 memory is physically and electrically incompatible with DDR4 motherboards. The notch position on DDR5 modules is different to prevent installation. You need a motherboard specifically designed for DDR5 (Intel 600/700 series or AMD 600 series chipsets and newer).
